Why 4AM Club?
Growing up, I was obsessed with Kobe Bryant. I watched every Lakers game and painted my childhood bedroom purple and gold.
My favorite Kobe story is from the 2008 Olympics. A team trainer offered to do a morning workout, so Kobe told him to get to the gym at 4AM. At 4AM, Kobe was there already in full-sweat.
I think about Kobe’s work ethic a lot.
I’m a Principal at Will Ventures, a VC firm investing in sports, media and consumer startups.
If I’ve observed one thing about entrepreneurship it’s this: It takes a maniacal work ethic to succeed. Will Ventures was actually named as an ode to the willpower needed for the entrepreneurial journey.
As an investor, I aspire to that same work ethic. My goal is to invest in category-defining companies, and to help them grow to their full potential.
I write 4AM Club weekly to share my opinions on where sports, media and consumer are heading — and where I see opportunity as a VC.
Subscribe to get it in your inbox every Tuesday at 4AM.
